Toronto Fashion Week Beauty: The best hair, nails and makeup from the Fall 2015 shows

Toronto Fashion Week fall 2015 beauty

Toronto Fashion Week has officially wrapped up and we’re taking a look back at the best beauty looks from the Fall 2015 shows. We previously talked about loving the bright blue eyeliner we saw on the runways, as well as the many uses of lip balm that we picked up backstage, but now that we’ve had a chance to reflect on the week that just passed, we’re noticing a few standout trends.

While graphic liner made gorgeous appearances at shows like Helder Diego and Sid Neigum, coloured liner stole the show at Hayley Elsaesser, Mackage and Mikhael Kale (actually, the latter featured orange lipstick used as liner), and natural makeup popped up at Pink Tartan, the beauty looks that really captured our hearts were the most classic: a simple cat-eye and red lip on one hand, and a smokey eye on the other. At Farley Chatto, Narces and Kania, red lips and black winged liner felt fresh and fun again. Over at Melissa Nepton, Hilary MacMillan and Soia & Kyo, we were reminded why a smokey eye will never go out of style.

Over in the hair department, we saw loose braids inspired by Joan of Arc at David Dixon, double French twists and V-shaped parts at Vawk, and extreme top knots at Mikael D, proving that a good updo is not to be overlooked. Oh and, did we mention that nail art is still going strong? From the camo-printed nails at Hayley Elsaesser to the burgundy chevrons at Mackage, we couldn’t help but be inspired to dust off our trusty nail art pen.

So what did we learn from the beauty looks at Toronto Fashion Week this season? While we’re still into no-makeup makeup and loose, messy waves, it’s cool to look like you put some effort into your look again.
