Makeup Lovers are Freaking Out Over This Throwback Too Faced Photo
Could the brand's OG lipsticks be making a comeback?
Too Faced’s Jerrod Blandino certainly knows how to keep us on our toes when it comes to the brand’s makeup launches.
Shortly after hinting at an upcoming highlighting palette (!!!), the cosmetics company’s co-founder and chief creative officer took to the ‘gram to show off Too Faced’s original lipsticks from the ’90s.
Created in 1998, the OG lippies came in eight different shades (that are totally in style now, BTW), all in an iridescent finish. Bustle notes the one shade that was missing in Jerrod’s video was a metallic silver named “Bionic.”
But what’s most noticeably different is the packaging — the sleek, black and silver bullet cases have since been replaced with brighter, yet more simplistic tubes.
Shortly after the throwback clip was posted, Too Faced fans flooded the comments section with speculation and hopes that the shades would be resurrected for Too Faced’s 20th anniversary in 2018.
Jarrod’s “nostalgic” feels post is most likely a hint of what to expect from the brand next year, or at least a feeler to see what the customer response would be. And truthfully, it wouldn’t be a bad idea — plenty of brands have seen success in bringing back old classics, often times in new and improved formulations.
