Using Primer as a Makeup Eraser is the Best Beauty Trick I Learned this Week

I have a problem: no matter which eyeliner or mascara I use, I always have some smudged underneath my eyes, leaving me looking like a raccoon. I mean, there are some liners (Benefit’s They’re Real! Push-Up Liner, for example) that have pretty good staying power, but for someone with watery eyes who applies on the tightline, there’s bound to be some residue left over.

Usually, I take a Q-Tip and some makeup remover to get rid of the eyeliner remnants, but that involves reapplying concealer afterwards. Sometimes I’m lazy and just wipe with my fingers, but there’s still always a bit of a smudge. But I recently learned a simple trick from Thai Vuong, a beauty expert at Shoppers Drug Mart, that changes everything: using Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer as an eraser.

Vuong demonstrated the trick on me at a recent Shoppers Drug Mart event. I was about to have my photo taken after having my makeup done, but of course, I had some black marks underneath my eyes. “Here’s a trick,” Thai said. “Smashbox primer as an eraser,” he continued before buffing away my raccoon eyes using a Q-Tip and the product.

And trust me when I say his trick is magic: the rest of my makeup stayed in tact, but the black stuff had vanished.

So next time you experience some leaking (or you mess up during your makeup application), simply take a small amount of Smashbox primer and erase away!

And don’t thank me, thank Thai for this brilliant trick.
