From Todd Lynn to Emma Stone, blue is back—and we couldn’t be more excited. Yes, blue eyeshadow doesn’t have the best reputation. It’s the light-wash denim of the beauty world: you automatically think of everyone doing it wrong (case in point: your babysitter in the ‘80s) before you remember just how good it looks when you do it right. Blue, after all, is the most flattering colour for any skin tone. Stone is the perfect case in point—she’s been spotted on many red carpets in shimmering sapphire shadows.

Ease yourself into the blue trend by switching your usual black or brown eyeliner for a navy shade—you’ll instantly notice how it makes your eyes pop. Cover Girl’s Exact Eyelights Eye-Brightening eyeliner in “Radiant Sapphire” ($9, covergirl.ca) is one of our favourites, or try what Arthur Mendonça used in his Spring 2012 show: L’Oreal H.I.P eyeliner in “Navy Blue” ($10, lorealparis.ca). If you want to go all the way, use Nars “Mandchourie” shadow duo ($38, narscosmetics.com) to achieve a rich, denim blue smoky eye. You’ll be singing the blues all night long.
