The Royal Wedding is Getting a Custom Fragrance and it Couldn’t be More Perfect
I come from a family of Brits, so naturally, we are obsessed with the royal family. My great-grandmother used to collect dainty spoons commemorating regal milestones like the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. I don’t have any celebratory silverware, but collecting perfumes? That’s something I could get into.
At the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2013, Floris London—a British perfumer dating back to the early 18th century—created a special version of their ‘Royal Arms’ fragrance. The scent had initially been created to celebrate the Queen’s birth in 1926, but a limited-edition version, specially made for the event, was created. This new formula was decanted into six antique crystal bottles and wrapped in century-old wrapping paper.
As the only perfumer with a Royal Warrant from the Queen, it’s no surprise that Floris London is so inspired by the royal family. According to People, another signature scent is on the way. This one will be designed with the upcoming royal wedding in mind and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have their own unique fragrance based off of the Floris London perfume, Bergamotto Di Positano.
This pre-existing perfume includes notes of orange blossom, ginger, green tea, vanilla and bergamot from the South of Italy. The scent is described as evoking “the warmth of a mediterranean sea breeze, sunshine and clear shimmering water.” It seems like it could be the perfect fit for Markle, who has travelled to Positano in the past. The bride-to-be stayed at the romantic Le Sirenuse on the Amalfi Coast during the summer of 2016, posting snapshots on her now defunct Intagram. Many are even speculating that this could be a potential honeymoon destination.
With its pastel properties and sea-sprayed cliffs, the fairy-tale town of Positano seems the perfect inspiration for a royal wedding scent.
