Huda Kattan Announces New Initiative to Help MUAs During Coronavirus Pandemic

By Maddison Glendinning

Today, beauty mogul Huda Kattan has announced a new initiative to support freelance makeup artists during the Coronavirus pandemic the world is facing right now.

Taking to Instagram to share an almost 6-minute long video, the entrepreneur shared how she is feeling overwhelmed given the current crisis. She revealed that as a business owner, she knows the struggles of starting (and maintaining) a business and that the thing that scares her the most about the virus currently isn’t the virus itself, but the “financial impact of what’s about to happen. Some people are not going to be able to survive that financial impact.”

The Wishful skin founder said she’s been talking with her team about how to help, adding that she just wanted to start. To begin with, she wants to support makeup artists – a cause close to heart given that she started her career as one. “I want to start with $100,000 today and give money to 100 people because that can help 100 people take care of their situation,” Huda explained to the camera. In the caption she added, “I want to kick-start the way that we’re giving back by shining a spotlight on some amazing makeup artists and giving cash to some MUAs who may be struggling right now. So we’ll be giving away $1,000 USD to 100 of you amazing freelance makeup artists!" She called upon her followers to “tag a freelance MUA that you know who is finding these times tough & share why you’ve put them forward.”

In the video, Kattan also called upon her followers to share their ideas as to how she and her brand could help moving forward. Additionally, the Dubai-based entrepreneur said she’ll be highlighting various small businesses on her Instagram channel over the next couple of days for people to support.

Finishing the video, Kattan, who said she feels “a responsibility to the beauty industry” shared, “This is tough. We’re all in this together. And I feel like a lot of people don’t realize that the whole world is in this together.” She finished by telling her followers, “Please stay positive. Please stay healthy. You can spread positivity to the people around you and trust me, it will come back to you, whatever you spread comes back to you. I love you guys.”
