La Mer goes blue for World Oceans Day

By Lindsay MacAdam

It’s safe to say that the über-luxe skincare brand La Mer wouldn’t be where it is today—which is, of course, slathered on the faces of the world’s hottest celebrities and most breathtaking supermodels—without the Crème de la Mer lotion’s key ingredient: nutrient-dense sea kelp.

Since La Mer’s luxury creams rely so heavily on the health of the marine ecosystem, the brand has been doing its part to promote the importance of its protection by working with international advocacy group Oceana. In honour of World Oceans Day on June 8, the brand is donating $200,000 to Oceana and launching a limited edition, sea-inspired, blue version of its signature Crème de la Mer bottle ($420, at Holt Renfrew throughout May and June).

If you needed another reason to get behind marine conservation, just introduce your skin to La Mer’s iconic-for-a-reason cream.
