Why is Kendall Jenner Wearing Gold Teeth?
Despite being the face of Estée Lauder and The Estée Edit, Kendall Jenner isn’t exactly daring when it comes to her beauty look. While her younger sister Kylie Jenner experiments with different hair colours and makeup looks, the most change we see from the 21-year-old model is a haircut here and there.
But on Monday, Kenny stepped out in London sporting an interesting new look: a double cap gold grill.
Accented by a bright red lip, the gold teeth caps were in full view at the Love X Burberry party during London Fashion Week. Jenner’s oversized Burberry knit hoodie and giant gold hoop earrings just added to the, uh, different look.
And even though Kendall’s siblings (Kylie, Kim and Khloe, specifically) have worn grills in the past, it seems bizarre for the model to sport the accessory. Many are speculating her gold teeth have something to do with her rumoured boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, who has an entire collection of dental bling which includes 24-karat and diamond encrusted grills.
But whether it’s (maybe) boyfriend-approved or not, Kendall sporting a grill is still problematic to some. As some Twitter users pointed out, Kendall’s gold teeth are another case of beauty double standards: when people of colour wear them, they’re referred to as “trashy” or “cheap,” whereas when a white model wears them, it’s “gleaming” and “bold.”
