I’m hardly original when I say the peony is my all time favourite flower; it’s the only one I’ve ever made an effort to plant and I am in no way what you’d consider a gardener. But I love how fat and bulbous they get, with so many layers of petals that they seem like they’re ready to burst. L’Occitane clearly feels the same way: they’re launching a limited edition makeup collection in honour of the robust flower, dubbed Pivoine Flora.
The Petals Eye Quartet ($30) is particularly pretty and wearable (the watercolour image of four dancers on the box makes it even more endearing). And the Incredible Lip Shine ($18) is infused with peony extract and does that whole intuitive turns-to-a-pink-that’s-right-for-you thing. Both will last way longer than the all-too-short actual blooming season, which is most definitely the flower’s greatest weakness.
The Pivoine Flora collection is available at L’Occitane boutiques across Canada.
