Weddings are for celebrating love and having fun, not for worrying about frizzy hair or your curls loosing their oomph! One of my favorite ways to avoid hair traumas on a special night out is to try a cute and simple updo that can last all night.

For this summer wedding inspired hairstyle I started off by blow drying my hair in a center part. I curled the ends to give it a bit of texture, and also gave it a nice dose of dry shampoo to help it stay in place. Simply separate your hair down the back into two sides, braid each side and swoop the braid up against your head, pinning it at the top. Leave a few strands out in the front to frame the face and voila! You have a pretty and romantic style that will leave you free from fussing throughout the night!

Last year, I got married in the middle of summer. It was one of the hottest days ever. I remember spending 90 minutes on my hair. Each curl was crafted with a curling iron. It was perfect! Two hours later, it was a total different story. My summertime wedding hair recommendation would be use a curling wand. Wand curls don’t have to be perfect. Once “wanded” the curls can be shaken out. Hours later, it still looks good. Don’t forget to use a heat protectant before you curl. Afterward, use a hairspray for something more long-lasting.

Summer weddings are one of the highlights of the season! It seems like summer is not complete without a wedding or two! While keeping all things pretty and light is the name of the game when it comes to what to wear, it’s also the same when it comes to your hair and make-up.

I like to keep things fuss-free when it comes to my hair as I know heat, humidity and all-night dancing will put a damper on a super elaborate hair-do! I love flowing light curls as they are so romantic and perfect for celebrating love and marriage. They key to making your curls stay forever? Prep your hair to keep the curls—I used Drybar’s Detox Dry Shampoo and Triple Sec 3-in-1 to sop up the oils, part my hair on its natural line and I curled with DryBar’s The 3-Day Bender Digital Curling Iron, which I swear gave me curls for days!

Bonus: we danced all night long and the curls stayed intact!
