On Monday, Glossier introduced a solid version of their fragrance, Glossier You. Housed in a weighty metal compact that swivels open, it’s a concept that actually dates back to the ancient Egyptian times, when fragrance was made using either plant oil or animal fat and scented with essential oils. Today, it’s a super transportable way to carry your favourite fragrance with you, whether you’re traveling or just want to take in in your purse. The other and lesser known benefit is that being in a wax rather than an alcohol base means the scent lasts longer because the wax seals it in. Some are also created as limited edition collectable pieces; Marc Jacobs and Chloe have done scents in rings and pendants and more recently, Estee Lauder has collaborated with New York-based luxury jewellery designer Monica Rich Kosann (raising the price considerably) but there’s also super affordable versions like Pacifica‘s which come in adorable tins.
