Gabby Douglas’ hair makes headlines again: the gold-medal winner got a $1000 haircut from celeb stylist Ted Gibson

Since Gabby Douglas made Olympic history as the first African-American and the third U.S. gymnast ever to win the all-around gold, her hair has also been making headlines. While we still don’t understand why viewers took to social media to call out the pint-sized 16-year-old for having unkempt hair (her bun looked just as slick as her teammates’ updos!) today the story gets a little better: Douglas got a gold medal-worthy haircut from celebrity stylist Ted Gibson.

Gibson, whose services tend to run in the $1000 range, took Douglas under his wing, giving her a easy-to-maintain, frizz-taming cut. (He’s also styled Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway and Ashley Greene‘s hair, just to name a few.) Though both Douglas and Gibson tweeted their love for each other following the appointment, Gibson also spoke out about the hair controversy.

“I couldn’t believe it and still can’t,’’ he told The Daily Beast. “You have this young girl doing amazing things, and the conversation becomes about her hair? It was ridiculous and shameful.”

While we think Douglas looked equally amazing before and after her hair makeover, we hope that in the long run, it was her landslide victory that ends up being remembered, not the bun debacle!
