The Beauty Products We’ll Be Using All Month Long

FASHION‘s beauty team is made up of Beauty Director Lesa Hannah and Beauty Editor Suzie Michael. Each month, they’ll be discussing their favourite new products (whether they’re new-new or just new to them).

Beautycounter Dew Skin Moisturizing Coverage SPF 20 ($56)

I’m always looking for the next best tinted mineral sunscreen. Juice Beauty is too greasy, Drunk Elephant’s has too much shimmer and Thinksport slipped past my normally eagle eye with its inclusion of silicone (damn you Thinksport!). I’d heard Jean Godfrey June name drop Beautycounter’s Dew Skin many times in interviews but I only finally tried it and OH. MY. GOD. This is the one. It has a good amount of zinc oxide (14%) for daily wear, gives the ideal amount of coverage and is moist but doesn’t leave me looking slimy and in desperate need of a blot sheet. —L.H.

Dermalogica Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask ($28)

At this point in my life, I’ve accepted that large pores and perma-blackheads will always be my cross to bear, but I’m constantly trying to find products that decongest my pores a bit in between facials. Dermalogica’s new Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask is formulated with sulfur (anti-microbial) and and kaolin clay (oil-absorbing). You apply it to your T-zone and watch as it starts to fizz and bubble, then rinse it off three to five minutes later. Does it shrink my pores or extract blackheads? Obviously not. But it makes my T-zone feel super smooth and gets rid of the sandpaper-like feeling, which allows for a better makeup application (read: my foundation doesn’t sink into the crater-sized pores on my nose). It leaves my skin feeling clean and recently purged. Works for me! —S.M.
