Last October, I went to Naples and visited too many churches to name. I’m not the least bit religious but these places really are a sight to behold, not just because they are cavernous spaces with columns, stained glass, incredible mosaics, and marble statues, but because they all date back thousands of years. And they all have a very distinct scent: incense. That’s what this fragrance basically smells like, all warm and spicy, but it’s even better once it’s dried down on the skin. Part of the brand’s exclusive Velvet collection (only in Dolce & Gabbana boutiques), I tried it at a preview and couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist all day. —L.H.

Sometimes a product becomes iconic even though it’s not quite perfect—just because it’s so close to it.
