The Beauty Products We’ll Be Using All Month

FASHION‘s beauty team is made up of Beauty Director Lesa Hannah and Beauty Editor Suzie Michael. Each month, they’ll be discussing their favourite new products (whether they’re new-new or just new to them).

This month, we’re talking winter favourites. In case you haven’t noticed, it’s cold as hell. We’ve picked three items that are getting us through the bitter deep freeze.

Bite Agave Lip Mask

There is nothing that tops this for lips. No-thing. I’ve been raving about it for a few years and my feelings remain unchanged. It’s not cheap, but it’s super concentrated so you only need a dot and I can honestly say I can’t remember the last time I had chapped lips; I suspect it’s so ultra healing because it contains lanolin, the same ingredient used in nipple cream for breastfeeding. It also smells faintly of vanilla. We shall never part ways. —L.H.

Weleda Skin Food

In the last few weeks, I have reached for this tube multiple times. It’s super thick and some people may find it too greasy but you need that intensity when it’s this dry. I use it on my hands, heels, legs, around nostrils when it’s sore from too much nose blowing and force it on my kids, whether on their cheeks, or around their mouths when it gets red from lip licker’s dermatitis (Yes that’s a thing). And it can also double as a highlighter. —L.H.

Nars Blush in “413 BLKR”

I’ve been making an effort to apply blush again so that I don’t look so washed out. I’d forgotten how much I love this one: it’s a bright pink that doesn’t have a speck of shimmer and the lightest dab with a brush is all you need. —L.H.

Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick

A matte lipstick may seem like an odd choice for a winter fave, but trust me when I say this is the most comfortable matte I’ve ever worn. There are 14 shades in the line, ranging from bright reds, oranges and pinks to nudes to less conventional colours like green and blue. I’m partial to the brights (Ma’Damn, Candy Venom and Saw-C), especially on dreary days. In fact, I wore the red (Ma’Damn) throughout the holidays and not only did I forget I had anything on, but it lasted through Christmas dinner—turkey, stuffing and all—with no need for reapplication. Let that sink in. —S.M

Korres Vitamin C Active Brightening Oil

Always a favourite! #korres #korres_skincare #wildrose #Greece #beauty

My skin doesn’t really get dry, like, ever. No, not even in the winter. But this gorgeous oil is the final step in my nighttime routine this season because it feels and smells so good that I want to reach for it every night, even if I forget that I should be hydrating like crazy. Rose oil is also chock full of Vitamin C (which I worship at the altar of), so it leaves skin bright and supple. Oh, and as you can see, it’s very Instagrammable, thanks to the rose petals it’s infused with. —S.M

Chanel La Crème Main Hand Cream

New CHANEL La Crème Main. Experience hand bliss. #ChanelinMyHands #ChanelLaCrèmeMain

Similar to my face situation, my hands don’t get dry, but I’m well aware that if I don’t start taking care of them now, I’ll regret it when I’m older. I started keeping this Chanel hand cream in my purse—I won’t lie—purely because of the cute packaging. But the cream is ultra nourishing and, most importantly, absorbs beautifully and doesn’t leave a greasy film, so I find myself reaching for it more and more. —S.M
