We’ve got the lowdown from a pro hairstylist on the top cuts and colours of the season, plus how to pull them off.

As soon as the leaves start to drop, we collectively switch into cozy-core mode—cue the closet refresh, candle overload, and a sudden urge to do something different with our hair. If you’re plotting a fall transformation, you’re in good company. We asked celebrity hairstylist and Olaplex Pro Collective member Cindy Duplantis to break down the shades and styles dominating autumn 2025.

Here, Duplantis unpacks five cuts and colours sure to inspire your new look this autumn—from Victoria’s Secret Angel-inspired blowouts à la Bella Hadid to “revenge bangs” borrowed from Nicole Kidman’s latest makeover. Plus, the Chatters Hair Salon-based expert breaks down everything you should ask your stylist for to achieve each style.

Revenge Bangs

So you’ve heard of Princess Diana’s little black “revenge dress,” but can we take a moment to admire Nicole Kidman’s post-divorce-announcement revenge bangs? “Face-framing soft, textured lived-in bangs are the best way to face the world with renewed confidence and strength following a heartbreak, and no one is rocking it like Nicole and her revenge bangs,” the pro says. “Flattering lived-in bangs graduating in length from the front to the sides are a versatile option that can be worn on the face or pushed to the side based on how you are feeling.” Heartbroken or not, this cool cut is for anyone drawn to bangs this fall.

Ultra-Glossy Brunette Tresses

Whether your autumnal hair goals stem from Morticia Addams or Selena Gomez, brunette is always a good idea for fall. This season, Duplantis advises toning down your summer browns with complementary tone-on-tone hues and hi-gloss finishes. “This look [feels] expensive, effortless, strong and is a perfect balance for the structured suiting, coats, skirts and jackets we are seeing this fall,” the hairstylist explains over email. Tone-on-tone brunettes can be a combination of two complementary colours used to create a soft dimension, like espresso with caramel, she adds. Already reached your desired shade of brown? Ask your colourist for a high-intensity gloss service to elevate your look.

Off-Duty Victoria’s Secret Angel Blowouts

If you can’t stop thinking about all of the fabulous hairdos from the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, you’re not alone. According to Duplantis, you can expect to see bombshell blowouts like Bella Hadid’s on heads everywhere this season. “The key to this look, created by my friend Jacob Schwartz, is to make the cut and blowout look off duty or second day,” she says. “Talk to your stylist about adding extra layers around the face for volume and movement. The cut is the foundation of this look. Long, carefully cut layers help keep that weight on the ends, making it easy to get the same look at home.” Lastly, top it all off with Olaplex’s No. 7 Bonding Oil to prevent flyaways and give it that supermodel-level shine.

Bronze Curls and Coils

As for the curly girls, ‘tis the season to consider going bronze. “Curls shimmering with colours that reflect the pumpkin spice and sweater weather season are the ultimate hair statement,” says Duplantis. Before doing so, the hairstylist suggests taking your skin tone into account. While bronze works best with warmer complexions, those with fairer skin should opt for cherry cola hues. And, if you’re not feeling the urge to undergo an all-over transformation, stick with highlights or a balayage refresh. Above all else, keep your curls nourished. “Hair has to be healthy to get the full effect of this look, so be sure to book regular in-salon curl services such as Olaplex’s Bond Shaper Curl Rebuilding treatment,” Duplantis adds.

Flipped-Out Bobs

There are plenty of ways to wear a bob, but a Parisian chop with flipped-out ends is the style Duplantis predicts will rule them all. “This look gives you this season’s polished glamour for night, and a ski bunny aura during the day when peeking out from under a toque,” she explains. “Sleek at the crown, smooth throughout the mids, and finished with a soft flip at the ends, ask your stylist to leave some length at your next appointment.” For maintenance, she recommends using Olaplex’s No. 5 Leave In Moisturizer and Mend Leave In Conditioner on damp hair before styling—and on to dry hair to create that piecey texture. Then, lock it in with DesignMe’s Hold Me Three Ways Hairspray.
