The fall breeze is creeping in, sweeping the leaves off the trees and ushering our summer clothing to the back of our wardrobes for their annual slumber. But the arrival of autumn doesn’t just signal the return of trench coats and leather knee-high boots; it also presents a new opportunity to refresh our beauty looks. From deep hues on our lids and lips to brave cold-weather chop, we’ve compiled a list of runway-approved fall beauty trends to help you adjust to the cooler climate.

Sheer shimmer? We don’t know her. The eyeshadow renaissance has arrived—and it’s all about maximal impact. Think ’90s-inspired silver washes at Kim Shui, grunge-glossy smudges at Dries Van Noten and bold sweeps of colour from lash line to brow bone at Marni.

Whether sculptural or playfully tousled, texture took centre stage. At Monse, glossy, ultra-polished waves offered an editorial take on the bedhead, while Erdem and Prabal Gurung embraced natural movement with undone waves and soft coils that felt effortlessly romantic. Consider this your sign to pick up a salt spray and let your hair do its thing.

Across the runways, power pouts reigned—from Lacoste’s electric fuchsia paired with bare skin to the hyper-glossy reds at DSQUARED2. At Stella McCartney, a velvety crimson offered a timeless counterpoint, while Antonio Marras pushed the envelope with red foil lips that shimmered like glass. If this season has a signature, it is written in lipstick.

If there was a prevailing motto backstage, it was likely “More is more.” Rhinestones, sparkles and surreal lashes ruled the runways, turning faces (and fingertips) into full-on works of art. At Weinsanto, snowflake-shaped sparkles twinkled across cheekbones, while Maison Sara Chraïbi gave us rhinestone freckles. Courrèges took it even further, with dramatic winged lashes made from Cellophane, offering yet another reminder that subtle is overrated.

Moody lacquers have made a major comeback. Deep plums, wine-stained reds and earthy tones dominated the runways. At Meruert Tolegen, fingertips were swiped with dark feminine hues with delicate pearl accents hugging the nail bed, while Monse kept tips minimal but impactful with an aptly named “Fire Clay”—think earthy terracotta with a kiss of burnt sienna.

The cool-girl bob is back (side part and all), serving serious ’90s-main-character energy. At Gucci, hair was tucked behind the ears with flipped-out ends for an effortless effect, while Calvin Klein delivered soft, controlled texture with a minimalist edge. Call it timeless, call it trending—either way, this cut still has the world in a chokehold.

The humble bun is anything but basic this season. At Altuzarra, the look was sculptural, featuring smooth pretzel-like knots for a minimal-yet-refined finish, while at Christian Siriano, it took on a glossy form accented with slicked squiggles meant to mimic racetrack lines. Strong gel and unexpected curves gave the timeless updo a runway edge.

After seasons dominated by the clean aesthetic, it’s refreshing to see cool-toned shades with impact reclaiming the spotlight. At Christian Cowan, a soft watercolour blue lit up the eyes, while Blumarine kept things understated with strategically placed azure shadow. Whether the hue is on lids, lips or tips, the message is clear: We’ve officially entered our blue period.
