Los Angeles police are investigating the killing of professional hairstylist Fabio Sementilli who was found stabbed and beaten to death outside of his Woodland Hills, California home on Monday evening.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the 49-year-old Canadian-born hairdresser was found by his wife and daughters on his patio with “injuries to his face and significant blood.” Police state he received multiple stab wounds to his neck and upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, with police ruling his death a homicide.
So far, detectives have not provided a possible motive, though they did say Fabio’s black 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera was missing from his home.
Sementilli, who split his time between Los Angeles and Toronto, was a beloved and renowned hairdresser in the industry, having just celebrated his 30-year anniversary of working as a professional hairstylist on Friday. Affectionally referred to as "Big Daddy,” the Vice-President of Education for Coty Inc. was known for his positive attitude, hard work ethic and passion for mentoring others.
On Tuesday, representatives for Coty Inc. released an official statement on Sementilli’s death on Facebook.
“The Coty Professional Beauty North America family is devastated to learn we have lost one of our dearest members,” read the statement. “Our Vice President of Education, industry icon and incredibly proud hairdresser Fabio Sementilli died tragically January 23. Our thoughts and prayers are with Fabio’s family in the U.S. and Canada.
“We will be talking with members of our professional family soon to discuss what we can do to honour Fabio’s legacy, but for now our hearts are broken. He will be sorely missed.”
