The Drugstore Mascaras That Celebs Swear By

These under $10 mascaras are faves of everyone from Kim Kardashian to Meghan Markle.

When it comes to beauty products, often (not always) you get what you pay for. So there is some truth to the idea that more expensive products will perform better, when it comes to areas like skincare and haircare. (Again, this isn’t a guarantee—it’s more of a loose guideline.) But one beauty product that you don’t really need to spend big bucks on to see results? Mascara.

And don’t just take our word for it. Below, we’ve compiled the drugstore mascaras that both celebs and their makeup artists swear by.

The best part? None of them are over $10. Happy shopping—and saving!

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is an expert at using both expensive and drugstore products in her daily beauty routine. While parts of it are not cheap ($500 Guerlain serum, anyone?), some of the makeup products she loves are the same ones you probably have in your makeup bag right now. A prime example is L’Oreal Paris’ Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black ($7), which both Kim and her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic swear by. She even wrote a blog post about the mascara, saying, “The color is the perfect shade of black, and it really lifts and separates each lash,” she writes. “It’s perfect for an everyday look, or you can layer on multiple coats for a more dramatic eye.”

Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle’s former makeup artist Lydia Sellers revealed that Markle’s favourite mascara is $7 and can be found at most drugstores. “Meghan actually introduced me to a drugstore mascara, Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara,” Sellers said. “I keep it stocked in my kit now at all times thanks to her! This mascara really helps to amplify your lashes and polish off the entire look. It’s great for full volume and lengthening, the formula is super hydrating. I love how it builds, and that the price point is accessible for all budgets.”

Gigi Hadid

Unsurprisingly, Maybelline spokemodel Gigi Hadid’s favourite mascara comes from the drugstore brand. The model even wore Maybelline’s Falsies Push Up Angel Mascara ($10) to this year’s Met Gala.

Khloe Kardashian

Kim isn’t the only Kardashian to prefer drugstore mascaras. Khloe’s mascara of choice is Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Falsies Mascara in Very Black. As she explained on her website, “When it comes to mascara, more $$$ doesn’t always mean more volume or length. My girl Joyce [Bonelli] beats my lashes with a drugstore mascara that’s $7!”

Lea Michele

Makeup artist Chauntal Lewis, whose clients include Lea Michele, Ashley Benson, Emma Roberts and Julianne Hough, loves CoverGirl Lashblast Clump Crusher Mascara, which retails for a cool $9.
