Couture Fashion Week is an opportunity for designers to show off their creative side, which we have seen in the array of brilliant gowns and pieces walking the runways this week. However, these few days in the fashion calendar also present an opportunity to showcase statement makeup.
In Paris this week, waves of colour smudged on eyelids and smeared onto lips stole our attention. In the Yuma Nakazato show, we saw flames of red caressing the arches of brow bones, which sat perfectly in place alongside their troll-inspired hair. Xuan continued the outlandish theme, as delicate butterfly wings fluttered around the eyes of models. The shows also saw some major brow moments, from snow-covered to colour-blocked. When it came to lips, the matte colours at Maison Margiela were major, as were the glittery pouts from the Alexis Mabille show. And encompassing all trends into one extravaganza was Jean Paul Gaultier, who said goodbye with a range of makeup looks.
