M.A.C. Cosmetics’ latest VIVA GLAM campaign is here, fronted by recent brand ambassador, Chappell Roan (who was announced as a face of the brand back in the winter). The new Chappell Roan x M.A.C. Cosmetics VIVA GLAM collection features three lip products in matte, sheer-shine, and gloss finishes. To find out more about the exciting partnership, we spoke to Roan’s makeup artist Andrew Dahling, and M.A.C. Creative Director Nicola Formichetti for their inside scoop. “Chappell is the perfect VIVA GLAM artist,” says Formichetti. With her bold personality and playful artistry, Roan represents “everything VIVA GLAM stands for.”

Formichetti shares how VIVA GLAM wants to introduce a “new era of beauty—one that is less about fitting into a single trend or ideal, and more about celebrating individuality.” Self-expression is at the heart of this partnership, approaching beauty in a way that is authentic, creative and deeply personal to those wearing it. “Chappell Roan encourages people to be unapologetically themselves,” continues Formichetti. “She’s fearless, creative, expressive, and deeply connected to her audience. She makes people feel seen, and that’s something I relate to personally.”

“Chappell has used makeup as a tool to tell stories and convey emotions,” says the singer’s makeup artist Andrew Dahling. As he believes, “Chappell Roan and this campaign are like an antidote to a system [of]. They’re the lighthouse that shines the light of hope, of bravery, of inspiration—guiding ships home to the shores of freedom and liberation.”

A strong and refreshing voice for the younger generation in the beauty scene, Chappell Roan has ensured her activism is carried forth into this new partnership. The exclusive line is now available for purchase, with 100% of the selling price giving back to VIVA GLAM charities around the world advancing gender, sexual, racial, and environmental equality.

“It’s very important we continue to give a platform to this kind of creativity,” says Dahling. “Because sometimes art is the last frontier in a war against tyranny.”
