Celebrity nail art: 15 stars who have upped the manicure game in Hollywood
Over the last couple years we’ve seen quite the array of nail art on our fave celebrities. When you’ve tried every adorably named colour that OPI and Essie have to offer, you know it’s to get creative. From expressing your personal feelings (think back to when Katy Perry had then-hubby Russell Brand‘s face on her tips) to transforming your favourite photos into nail art or splurging on (or at least pretending to) on diamond-infused nail polish, celebs are really thinking outside the box when it comes to their manicures. A few honourable mentions include RiRi‘s ruby-encrusted talons brought to you by celeb nail artist Kimmie Kyees, as well as the ‘f*ck you’ art Lindsay Lohan strategically wrote on her nails during a court appearance back in 2010.
On the more feminine, less-offensive side we saw Zooey Deschanel and Ke$ha with sweet pastel pink and yellow daisy manicures, while other stars such as Hailee Steinfeld, who rocked comic-con inspired nails, and Kelly Osbourne, who showed off ice cream cone-infused talons, went with more playful designs. A number of celebrities such as Nicole Richie, Rihanna, Cher Lloyd, and Demi Lovato have been spotted rocking a pointy claw shape in dark shades embellished with gold studs and rhinestones. Some other nail art trends that have been prominent this past year include the cuticle half moon that Emmy Rossum sported with a black French mani, as well as the Swarovski embellishments that Rita Ora rocked with a fire-engine red mani ,and the musical festival-ready nail photo wraps seen on Alessandra Ambrosia at Coachella earlier this year. While we love a good solid colour, nail art is a way to express both your mood and feelings—whether you’re telling court officials off (probably don’t try this one at home) or expressing love to your husband.
