This week, Kylie Jenner debuted Kim K-like blonde locks on good old-fashioned social media, and (un)officially raised the question, “If a celebrity changes their appearance and doesn’t post it to Instagram, did it really happen?”

The answer, of course, is “no.” And while we can pretend that an actor or musician using the outdoors or red carpet as part of their big reveal is entertaining to us, it means nothing without the ability to like and/or comment on said debut, because in our minds, they factored our approval into their Very Important Life Step™.

Kylie Jenner’s blue debut (April 2014) It feels like just yesterday that most of us began experimenting with our hair, going from dark to blonde to ombre to blue with the eyes of the world on our Manic Panic technique. Of course, by “eyes of the world” we mean “whoever we saw in the high school cafeteria semi-regularly.” And, unlike Kylie Jenner, our look wasn’t incorporated into our sister’s video game -- nor did it help launch a trend that dictated salons from spring 2014 to spring 2015.
