8 recent celebrity pixie cuts that will inspire you to go shorter than ever
Long beach waves may be most commonly associated with summer (click here for proof), but if you think about it, going short for the sunny season just makes a lot more sense. Mother Nature is (okay, will soon be) cranking up the temperature, so let’s face it, glam is not the first word that pops into our heads when we think of long hair sticking to the back of our necks.
Lobs may be the most popular short hair route as of late (everyone from Kim Kardashian to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is sporting one), but if you’re not one to follow everyone’s footsteps, why not try another A-list cut: the pixie. Many celebrities have taken the lob one step further (shorter?) recently and joining stars like Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams, who hold long-term pixie club memberships.
Hollywood is no stranger to the pixie cut. Flashback to 2014 when a few celebs debuted their take on the trend – Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lawrence and Beyoncé all come to mind. While the stars who went the pixie route in 2015 didn’t cause such a stir, they still made headlines. Take Scarlett Johansson for example. When ScarJo made her first red carpet appearance post-baby earlier this year in Australia, everyone did a double take. Saying goodbye to her envious long golden locks, the new mother showed up in a Miley-like pixie (buzzed sides and all) that we totally approve of. Lena Dunham and Katy Perry both have been flirting with the idea of short since they bobbed/lobbed it up last year, so cropping their hair into fuss-free pixies was the natural next step (though Perry’s was just an April Fool’s joke!). But out of all the celebs that made the cut, Jared Leto was the one that really caused uproar on social media when he debuted his platinum blonde look en route to Paris Fashion Week.
So is the pixie the lob of 2015? We think so. From Lily Collins’ tousled ‘do to Nichole Richie’s bubblegum pink strands, here are eight celebrity pixie hairstyles to inspire your next salon trip.
