It takes guts for a beauty brand to reformulate its entire line-up to be clean and vegan – and yet that’s exactly what Canadian brand Bite Beauty has done for 2020.

The cult-favourite brand has reworked all of its products to ensure every single one of its offerings is now vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free and lanolin-free. But fear not, the brand promises that the pigment and efficacy that fans of the brand have come to know and love remain unchanged. On the FAQ section of its website, the brand writes, “Our reason to go vegan was simple – we’ve evolved. We can create high-performance formula without ingredients that come from animals. As we’ve been innovating with superfoods, we’ve learned we can get amazing results that perform on par with – if not better than – formulas that contain animal byproducts. Further, we wanted to create products everyone can love.” It does note however that its Lip Lab is not yet vegan but that they are working to have it be “as soon as possible.”

In addition to an overhaul of its formulations, the brand has also launched its first complexion range, called Changemaker. The collection consists of four products: two primers ($50 each), a micellar foundation ($52) and a pressed powder ($48).

The primers are available in mattifying (made with willowbark extract to help minimize pores) and hydrating (which contains olive oil and hyaluronic acid) formulas, depending on your skin type. Both are formulated to balance skin to perfect the canvas ahead of further makeup application. The foundation, called the Supercharged Micellar Foundation,  is made to be long-lasting and is enriched with maqui berry, an ultra-hydrating ingredient to help nourish skin. It’s also available in 32 shades, organized into four categories: light, medium, tan and deep. Finally, the Flexible Coverage Pressed Powder is made without talc – instead, the long-wear, matte finish is achieved through finely milled volcanic minerals that work to control shine and blur the skin.
