Go, sports!

Our April 2025 issue featured a sports theme through its pages, and what better way to join in on the fun and camaraderie of competitive sports than with fashion and beauty? After all, is putting together a cohesive, memorable look not considered a sport? (Don’t answer that.)

Below, we teamed up with the hairstylist on set of our athleisure shoot, Ryan McGovern, who walked us through how you can recreate the winning hairstyles at home.

Bang-Bang

No bangs? No problem! We love a hair piece. Begin with TRESemmé’s Keratin Smooth Blowout Mousse on damp hair then create a sharp middle part and tie your hair into a low ponytail, says hairstylist Ryan McGovern. “Apply TRESemmé’s Lamellar Gloss Cream Serum to smooth down the hair before adding your bang extension to complete the look. Next, mist the brand’s Lamellar Gloss Shine Spray through your hair for a smooth, shiny finish.” Voila!

To achieve the perfect brown lip, reach for Rhode’s Peptide Lip Shape in “Spin” to trace the lips before topping with Milk Makeup’s Odyssey Hydrating Non-Sticky Lip Oil Gloss in “Quest.”

Side to Side

To achieve this super-modern curved side part, “start by brushing back the hair to create a side part,” says McGovern. This isn’t the time to be subtle. Opt for a deep side part instead. “Apply TRESemmé’s Lamellar Gloss Cream Serum to smooth the hair and brush it into a sleek, clean finish,” particularly focusing on smoothing down the side that’s underneath to get it as flat and sleek as possible. “Then spray the Lamellar Gloss Shine Spray throughout the hair to add a glossy shine and reduce frizz. Finish with the Keratin Smooth Blowout Hairspray to set the style and provide long-lasting hold.”

As for the extra-terrestrial nails, we love Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri Nail Polish in “Giving Kisses.”

Sleek On It

For this cool deep-V look, “apply the Lamellar Gloss Cream Serum to smooth, hydrate, and prepare the hair,” explains McGovern. “Then, section the hair and create defined V partings. Pull everything back into a low bun. Set the style in place with the Keratin Smooth Blowout Hairspray and use the cool shot on your blow dryer to lock in the hairspray for long-lasting hold. Finish by spritzing the Lamellar Gloss Shine Spray for extra shine and a polished, sleek look.”

For an extra glow, look no further than Shiseido’s Ultimune Power Infusing Anti-Aging Serum and Revitalessence Skin Glow Foundation.

To create this edgy, asymmetrical bang look, start by working in TRESemmé’s Keratin Smooth Blowout Mousse then pull your hair into a low bun, using the Lamellar Gloss Cream Serum to smooth your hair. Reach for your new beloved bang extension (or pull out some of your strands if you’re already the lucky owner of this length) and mist the Keratin Smooth Blowout Hairspray for a smooth, shiny finish and all-day hold.

Benefit’s 24-HR Brow Setter Clear Brow Gel with Lamination Effect will keep your arches in place all day — perfect for the athlete that you are.
