Kim Kardashian West is suing a facialist
Kim Kardashian West is suing a facial doctor for ill-permissibly using her name to promote a procedure known as the “Vampire Facial,” also referred to as the platelet-rich plasma facial. Kardashian West received this treatment back in 2013. Her attorney’s filed complaint sets out to sue the Cellular Medicine Association and Dr. Charles Runels (he isn’t the doctor who performed the facial on Kardashian West, but he owns the trademark for “Vampire Facial”) for copyright infringement, infringement of registered mark, false association, violation of the right of publicity and more. Basically, the complaint reads: “While ‘the Kardashians’ — or, more accurately, Ms. Kardashian and her sister Kourtney — did ‘get’ a Vampire Facial, it was seven years ago. And they had certainly never licensed their name in connection with the procedure. Upon further investigation, Ms. Kardashian was horrified to discover that her name and likeness were plastered all over Runels’ website.”
Jennifer Garner is partnering with Virtue Labs
After being a long-time fan of the products Virtue Labs makes, Jennifer Garner is joining the hair family as an ambassador to share the brand’s story and shine a spotlight on the health-focused products. Her relationship with the brand began through her friendship with Virtue Labs’ creative director, Adir Abergel, who is also a hairstylist. “We basically grew up together in our careers in Hollywood. To have this amazing human who I love believe in our products so much that she wants to join our Virtue family is more than I could dream of,” Abergel said in a statement. This venture is a first for Virtue Labs, as the cruelty-free hair-care brand has never collaborated with a celebrity.
L’Oréal announced it will make all Prada fragrances moving forward
Prada and L’Oréal have just locked down a long-term beauty agreement, which is set to begin at the start of 2021. Prada’s chief executive officer, Patrizio Bertelli, describes the French beauty giant as “the leading global beauty company.” And that it is. L’Oréal already has a roster of designer fragrances under its belt, so taking on Prada isn’t surprising. “Its position and experience makes it the ideal partner for Prada to develop its full potential across a variety of new projects, leverage Prada’s well-established fragrance identity and reach even more audiences around the world,” he said. Prada’s fragrance and beauty sectors were previously licensed with Puig, but they parted in summer of this year. Smells like the beginning of a very successful friendship if you ask us.
