“You start to lose pigment after 14 days,” explains Clairol Colour Director Marie Robinson, referring to the unfortunate fade that occurs after colouring hair.

For a boost between appointments, Robinson says she always has her clients come in around that time for a gloss treatment. Following that lead, Clairol Natural Instincts ($10, at drugstores) now comes with a shade-refreshing rinse (applied in the shower like shampoo) to use at the two-week mark.
