GOOP-y may be Lainey Gossip’s nickname for Gwyneth but it’s also the reason I never wear lipgloss (with the exclusion of NARS’ Lip Lacquer—it’s in a class all its own). I’m also not down with lip stains; there’s something about applying an item that’s a close cousin to a magic marker that doesn’t sit well with me. For a good shot of colour, a berry lipstick is my go-to but once summer hits, it seems fitting that it take some time off. That’s why I find myself gravitating towards lip crayons in hot pink. They’re like diet lipstick—same punch of colour but they feel less heavy handed on.
Tarte Natural Lip Stain ($31, at sephora.com) in “Amuse” has an amazing level of sheen but none of that tackiness you get from a gloss.
Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencil ($20, lipstickqueen.com) in “Mystery” is an wicked sheer berry but when I spied “Crime” on my beauty pal Janine Falcon (imabeautygeek.com), I knew I had to own it as well.
Lise Watier Lip Kiss Crayon Gloss ($18, at drugstores) in “Passion Fucshia”. When I read Michelle at beautyeditor.ca’s glowing post about this, I had already stumbled upon it in the beauty closet. It has a bit more pigment than the others, but is no less fun to wear.
