Backstage beauty: Greta Constantine
Instead of the traditional army of models bearing the same look, three distinct personalities walked the runway at Greta Constantine on Friday night.
Mlle: M.A.C senior artist Melissa Gibson described this look as a “throwback to the strong, chic French woman.” Lids were blended with a mix of Paint Pot in “Soft Ochre” and Eye Shadow in “Saddle” to “add dimension, not colour”. Mascara was nixed so that the inner portion of the eye, including the lash line, was kept light. “It still makes the eyes stand out, but more like a painting.
It’s very haunting.” And no Frenchie is complete without her red lipstick—this one was blackened for “depth” using Lip Pencil in “Cherry” and “Nightmoth” and Cremesheen Lipstick in “Hang Up”. Hair was “sleek and sophisticated,” according to Adrian Carew from Hair2inc., resulting in either smooth, side-parted low ponytails or a side chignon made up of intricate waves and curls.
Lezark: This minimalist look was a direct reference to babealicious MisShapes DJ and occasional model Leigh Lezark, with thick black eyeliner rimming the eyes on top and bottom—but not meeting at the corners. Skin was flawlessly buffed with M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish, Slimshine Lipstick in “Bare” was topped with Viva Glam V Lipglass and brows were filled in where needed to complete the simple, groomed look. Hair was blown-dry perfectly straight and smooth.
Richie: These socialite bad girls wore layers of black upon black around their eyes in an egg shape that was meant to be “moving,” so that it appeared imperfect and slept in, said Gibson. The models wore Mineralize Skinfinish in a half shade darker than their skin, so that the face “doesn’t look blank.” Gibson skipped the blush and used “Peachstock” lipstick on the mouth—a shade she described as a nude, but with “more of a salmon undertone.” Hair was a mass of messy waves and curls, twisted and backcombed to party animal effect.
