Living with food allergies isn’t easy—eating out with friends becomes a hassle, and you always feel like a nuisance when invited over to someone’s house for dinner.
Trust me, I would know. As a self-professed “food allergy queen,” I have a fair share of allergies and sensitivities which prevent me from eating foods like pizza, ice cream and even candy (corn syrup is in almost everything, guys). I’ve, of course, tried some “allergen-free” treats, but none have been particularly delicious.
But then, the other day, some free2b treats landed on my desk, and guys, it’s changed everything for me.
The chocolate treats are free of Canada’s top 10 food allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, gluten, soy, egg, dairy, sesame, corn, coconut, mustard, fish and shellfish) and are—sorry for the language—effin’ delicious. The “Snack Breaks” peppermint bark is divine and the sun cups remind me of peanut butter cups (except, they don’t make my throat or lips swell up).
I even had some of the FASHION staff try some, and they happily enjoyed the tasty treats, comparing them to snacks they enjoy on the regular.
My only complaint? It is very hard to just enjoy one piece (or cup), meaning I’ve been snacking a lot more than usual this week. Guess I’ll have to start doing my fave butt workout again.
The free2b Snack Breaks come in three flavours (dark chocolate with crushed peppermint candies, dark chocolate with dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds, and dark chocolate with dried blueberries and rice crisps) and are available at Shoppers Drug Mart for $7.99-$9.99. The Sun Cups (available in dark chocolate with sunflower seed butter, rice-milk chocolate with sunflower seed butter and dark chocolate with mint) will be at Goodness Me stores and online for $3.99-$4.99 starting in September.
