Rihanna is Probably Designing a Lingerie Line

RiRi has already lent her name to Puma sneakers and the immensely popular Fenty Beauty line, and it’s looking like her next venture will be in the world of…lingerie. According to WWD, everyone’s favourite bad gyal has inked a deal with TechStyle Fashion Group, who have already worked with celebs like Kim Kardashian and Kate Hudson, to design a new line of undergarments. While Rihanna’s publicist declined to comment on the deal, sources state that “TechStyle has been working on the project for more than a year and samples have already been produced.” Will a Rihanna lingerie line be as inclusive as Fenty Beauty, with shades of nude for every skin colour? More importantly, will it bring us closer to making out in a pool with a Saudi billionaire? Only time will tell. (WWD)

Dapper Dan’s Life Story will be Adapted into a Biopic

Dapper Dan, the Harlem-based tailor whose flashy 1980s designer bootlegs were worn by hip hop stars like Run DMC and Salt N Pepa, will be the subject of an upcoming biopic. Writer and comedian Jerrod Carmichael has signed on to adapt Dapper Dan’s memoir, which will be published by Random House in 2019. Dapper Dan’s life story is fascinating, spanning from prosperity and fame in the ‘80s, to shuttering his boutique after lawsuits from luxury brands, to opening up an atelier with Gucci this year. According to the brand, Robbie’s Oscar dress required a whopping 550 hours of work and 7 people to complete. “I’m thrilled to be joining the CHANEL family and continue their celebration of women and fashion,” Robbie said in a statement released by Chanel. “The history of the CHANEL woman is so exciting and the brand has remained such a power feminine standard of style. “It’s a dream to represent such a timeless and iconic brand.” (Press Release)

Undercover by Jun Takahashi will No Longer Produce Womenswear

It’s time for Japanese design enthusiasts to shed a single tear of mourning. Jun Takahashi has announced that going forward, he will no longer produce a womenswear line, rather he will place sole emphasis on menswear for Undercover. “While I enjoy designing womenswear, for me creating a conceptual women’s show requires designing clothes that are rather extreme. It has been a tricky balance to make women’s clothes that are both creative enough to make a statement on the runway but also wearable,” Takahashi told Business of Fashion. While we’re disappointed by the news, it’s also the case that differentiating between menswear and womenswear feels a little outdated. We’ll be sure to pull outfit inspiration from Takahashi’s next line, gender irregardless. (Business of Fashion)
