Sporty, embellished, minimalist, vintage—for garments that only you (and a lucky few ;) are able to see, there sure are a lot of styles to choose from when it comes to selecting a pair of underwear. In an effort to shine some light on the unmentionables we work so diligently to conceal 364 days a year, National Underwear Day was founded in NYC back in 2003. Boasting a runway show in Times Square, the event aims to promote body acceptance and feeling comfortable in your own skin. Obviously, we’re all for it.
To mark this cheeky occasion, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite indie underwear brands changing the face of lingerie today. What could be more important than the layer you wear closest to your skin?

1. Fortnight Lingerie You might recognize this homegrown Canadian label from the “Super Sexy CPR” video that went viral awhile back (trust us, Google it). Manufactured in downtown Toronto, Fortnight’s formula is a hybrid of classic cuts with modern functionality—think ladylike meets Lululemon. fortnightlingerie.com
