We’ve gone from the season of never-ending merriment to one that’s all about making up for an entire month of holiday indulgences: New Year’s resolution time. However, not all resolutions have to be about hitting the gym more often or swearing off tasty treats. From changing up your skincare routine to adding a boost of colour in your wardrobe, there are many simple things you can do for your fashion and beauty routines that will make each day of 2012 a little brighter and a little better. And because resolutions always work best when you share them, here’s what some of the team at FASHION has resolved:

Improve your skincare routine:

“Take better care of my skin by moisturizing, exfoliating, wearing masks, going for more facials, and wearing more sunscreen.” Nicole Stafford, photo editor

“To get regular facials!” Jordan Porter, fashion market editor

“This is really more of a winter resolution, but I have vowed to really take of my skin this season. In years past, I’ve been pretty lazy with moisturizing and have had to go to medical lengths to help sooth the cold weather wear and tear. So, from now on, I’ll be lathering up day, night, and every moment in between.” Randi Bergman, online editor

“To not awake a sleeping, monster zit by squeezing it when it’s just an innocent-looking blackhead.” Lesa Hannah, beauty director

Add some colour:

“Invest in some gorgeous, colourful dresses.” Caitlin Agnew, assistant editor

“I want to wear lipstick more often—even to work.” Rachel Simpson, associate designer

“I’m going to invest in classic shoes (and take care of them!) and killer, colourful accessories. I’m also going to start wearing bright lip colours as soon as my braces come off—summer 2012!” Emilie Dingfeld, copy editor

Get organized:

“I want to re-organize my closet so I can find things without tearing it apart every morning. Also, I want a good steamer. Ironing is so 2011!” Sarah Casselman, senior editor, fashion news

“Make my next hair/brow/massage appointments before I leave the salon—if it’s scheduled in, I won’t put it off.” Emilie Dingfeld, copy editor

Wash makeup brushes weekly! A popular choice, with both Lesa Hannah and Rani Sheen resolving to do this throughout 2012.

Change it up:

“I will find the perfect haircut.” Caitlin Agnew, assistant editor

“Take the green route. Start using more organic, “greener” or natural products (which may include using items from my fridge).” Brian Fleming, associate designer

“I will stop putting silk and cashmere things in the washing machine.” Rani Sheen, features editor

“I will get more sleep and drink more water.” Caitlin Moneta, assistant fashion editor

“Start carrying around portable nail polish remover pads so I stop picking off entire manicures. It’s a terrible, terrible habit.” Paige Dzenis, associate online editor

“To stand on my head every morning. Makeup artist Gucci Westman revealed that part of her anti-aging routine is standing on her head in the morning, so I’m adding it to my battle plan. Among other benefits, flipping upside down daily helps boosts circulation in the face, which makes skin glow.” Sarah Daniel, beauty editor

Focus on your brows and lashes:

“I will go to see the brilliant brow tech Irina at Robin Barker more than the two times I went this year. I feel so amazing whenever I do—it’s like a face renovation, why would I deny myself that?” Rani Sheen, features editor

“Start a special savings account for regular lash extensions. (No more patchy lashes!)” Caitlin Moneta, assistant fashion editor

Give your style a boost:

“I will acquire more noteworthy unmentionables, possibly from Fortnight Lingerie.” Rani Sheen, features editor

“Wear more dresses and skirts. I’m a bit jeans-obsessed.” Emilie Dingfeld, copy editor

“I will wear high heels—like actual pumps, not just heeled shoes—during the day.” Paige Dzenis, associate online editor

“Denim with even a hint of lycra is dead to me for 2012.” Sarah Daniel, beauty editor
