It’s pretty easy to cruise though life, flying under the radar and going about your fashionable business.  But, for Calgary-based designer Leo Casuga Jr., that simply isn’t an option.  After slogging it out in the financial world for several years, Casuga decided to listen to his gut and jump ship to pursue a life in design.

The recent introduction of his funky neckties has made a splash on the Calgary scene—and it’s not just the fellas who are rocking this regal look.  “I love seeing women in my ties, it’s like they assume a different level of confidence, they demand power. It’s sexy,” the designer explains as we chat about his female clients.  Casuga says for him, the necktie symbolizes a coming of age, but in a fun and funky way.  His customers aren’t quite ready to throw in the towel when it comes to nightlife, but are looking for a more refined and fashion forward approach.  Push those stuffy ideals aside; you don’t need a trust fund to pull of this look, just a sense of humour and a touch of confidence.

Casuga’s ties are available at The Gallery (113 1013 17 Ave, 403-452-6511) and start at just $50—a drop in the bucket for this polished look.  It’s all about preserving individual style for this up and coming designer, so rest assured you won’t see anyone else sporting the same noble neckwear.
