After expressing gratitude on (American) Thanksgiving and spending those hard-earned dollars on Black Friday/Small Business Saturday/Cyber Monday shopping, it only seems natural to give back on Giving Tuesday, right? And that’s exactly what Aldo is doing for National Giving Day (Nov. 28).
The Canadian footwear and accessories brand has teamed up with social action platform Global Citizen and its “Education for All” mission on the “Give Back, Move Forward” campaign to help hundreds of millions of children gain access to education worldwide.
Starting on #GivingTuesday, Aldo’s “genderless” sneaker, the “Aldo Mx.” will be released in three colourways (deep red, black on black and grey mix) with 100 per cent of the net proceeds going towards helping children in the world’s poorest countries get the education they deserve.
“It was crucial for us to find an organisation that would not only reflect our founder’s vision and philosophy in the most genuine way, but also inspire and mobilize our customer,” said Daianara Grullon Amalfitano, Senior Vice President at Aldo, in a press release. “After successfully launching our genderless sneaker last summer, we sought to further celebrate the intention and values behind its creation. By extending the purpose of Mx. towards this new campaign, our goal is to elevate what the sneaker stands for and raise awareness for a project that will resonate with our global community, the #AldoCrew.”
Global Citizen’s “Education for All” campaign aims to fill critical funding gaps in global education, including supporting the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) to achieve its 2018 replenishment goal of $3.1 billion. Through its partnership with Aldo, Global Citizen will continue to call on world leaders, businesses and multilateral institutions to support the GPE “Education Cannot Wait” fund which ensures o child or young person misses out on education during crises.
The Aldo Mx retails for $90 and is available in-stores and online at aldoshoes.com.
