TIFF round-up: Colin Farrell gets in photographer’s face, teary-eyed Jennifer Connelly and more

By Anna Cipollone

Colin Farrell took time out from walking the red carpet to single out a London-based freelance photographer. After Joe Alvarez yelled for everyone to clear the carpet so he could get a solo shot of Farrell, the star got aggressive in defence of his red-carpet companion: his sister.  Grabbing Alvarez by the neck, Farrell said, “You don’t yell at my sister like that.” Alvarez insists Farrell overreacted and is contemplating laying charges. John Riley of Astral Media slammed Jennifer Connelly for her absence at the Creation after-party. Riley is said to have ripped up a photo of Connelly while referring to her as his “former favourite actress.” At the Creation press conference, we imagine he squirmed when Connelly gave a tearful apology for her absence, stating that it was the one-year anniversary of her father’s death. The rooftop of Yorkville’s Park Hyatt hotel has been transformed into a Nikki Beach bar, the franchise that prides itself on offering a safe haven for celebs to escape from fans and paparazzi. The public is welcome but the bar’s security will be keeping watch. So far, visitors to the bar include Drew Barrymore, Ewan McGregor, Mena Suvari and Jennifer’s Body stars Amanda Seyfried, Adam Brody and Megan Fox. [Toronto Star]
