Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s steamy performance at the 2019 MTV VMAs had everyone talking – mostly because the rumoured “couple” came so close to kissing at various points throughout the performance but never actually delivered. Sophie Turner and the Jonas Brothers were particularly let down. But now, Shawn and Camila have taken to Instagram to address a certain rumour, and they’re officially trolling all of us.
In the short clip, the pair can be seen sitting next to each other with Shawn (who recently had a limited edition Tim Hortons cup made in his honour) talking to the camera, saying, “Hey guys, so, um we saw on Twitter that you guys were saying stuff about the way we were kissing and how it looks weird and that we kiss like fish,” to which Camila replies, “It really hurt our feelings.” Shawn then says, “So we wanted to show you how we really kiss” ahead of the pair beginning to jokingly make out with a lot of open mouths and tongue. All the lols aside, it is truly an uncomfortable watch. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
The video was posted a mere eight hours ago and has already received over 11.5 million views, almost 6 million likes and just under 300,000 comments. It remains entirely unclear as to whether or not the pair is actually officially dating (honestly the jury is still out here at FASHION HQ) and it seems like they’re enjoying stringing the world along because they know everyone is ultimately shipping them but WE JUST WANT CONFIRMATION.
Not all is lost in the land of celebrity love stories however, with Lili Reinhart confirming this week that she and Riverdale co-star Cole Sprouse are still officially together. In an interview, Reinhart referred to Sprouse as her boyfriend, putting to rest months of speculation that the pair had parted ways.
