How to do New York Like a Fashion Week Veteran

Anna Pang of Assembly New York and Index Series gives us the inside scoop on New York during Fashion Week.

By Kate Mendonca

Like other New York Fashion Week veterans, Anna Pang preps for the seasonal fashion marathon in the least interesting of ways: “With lots of rest and hydration,” she says. Originally from Toronto, Pang moved to the city to study design at Parsons School of Design, which led to internships at Thakoon, Zac Posen, The Row and Prabal Gurung. She’s now design director at Assembly New York as well as founder and creative director of the womenswear label Index Series. She launched her first collection in 2014 to “help women refine their wardrobes with elevated basics that are actually not so basic.” Pang’s latest collection, Series No. 4, puts the emphasis on layering, with silk blouses, knits and menswear-inspired suits. Having demystified the whole New York scene, what’s next for Pang? Paris, where she’s hoping to distribute Index Series next.
