Meghan Markle Bestie Jessica Mulroney Nabs Yet Another Brand Partnership

Three members of the Duchess' inner circle are now working with Bumble, the female-first social app.

Jessica Mulroney is, in essence, the Gayle to Meghan Markle’s Oprah. When a person becomes a global superstar, it’s really only natural that they bring their best friend with them. (Also see: Beyonce and Kelly Rowland, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.)

Mulroney is, like many celebrity besties before her, a hardworking, talented woman in her own right: she’s a stylist, consultant, TV personality, wedding planner, co-founder of The ShoeBox Project, mother-of-three and is married to former Canadian Idol host and Brian Mulroney’s son, Ben Mulroney. It’s her status in the Duchess of Sussex’s inner circle, however, that has made her a topic of coverage in gossip mags around the globe.

With fame comes opportunity. Just over a week before the royal wedding, she announced a partnership with Hudson’s Bay Company, where is now the spokesperson for the the lifestyle brand CORE. This past year, she also landed a gig as a fashion correspondent for Good Morning America — a big league leap from her time spent on Toronto’s Cityline. And then, inline with her love of dressing Markle in Canadian brands, she styled country queen Shania Twain in Canadian gowns at the CCMAs.

She’s now adding another line to her resume: Mulroney is a newly-minted Canadian Strategic Advisor to Bumble, the feminist dating and social app where women are encouraged to make the first move in their relationships, friendships and professional connections.

“For years Bumble has been setting an example and offering a safe space for women to explore their confidence and make new connections. It’s a mission anyone can get behind and, especially as a mother to a daughter, one that I am very passionate about and proud to be a part of,” Mulroney said in a statement. “As women, for those of us who have come to appreciate how far making the first move can take you, we need to teach and empower each other to approach life, love and business in the same way.”

With her new title, Mulroney joins a growing group of recognizable women working with Bumble. Priyanka Chopra became a “partner, advisor, and investor” in the app before it launched in her native country, India, last year; Serena Williams recently became an investor and active member of the Bumble Fund after starring in the app’s Superbowl campaign; in 2017, professional funny sisters Sara and Erin Foster were named the co-creative directors of the company, and now travel the world speaking on behalf of the brand.

Something we noticed: the majority of Markle’s friends (Chopra and Williams are also tight with the Duchess) are now working with Bumble. I guess when you’re the feminist princess, you surround yourself with female-first supporting friends. Who knows, maybe you’ll find yourself starring at Markle herself next time you’re swiping for matches.
