George and Amal Clooney Announce Their Pregnancy in the Most Unconventional Way Ever
It’s official. George and Amal Clooney are expecting twins this June.
Yesterday, the news dropped via CBS’s morning show The Talk’s anchor Julie Chen.
“Congratulations are in order for George and Amal Clooney!” says Chen. “The Talk has confirmed that the 55-year-old superstar and his highly accomplished 39-year-old attorney wife are expecting twins,” she continued. “Now, what we did find out, that no one else is reporting, is that the twins are due this June.”

There were a lot of speculations about whether or not the 55-year old actor and 39-year-old human rights lawyer were actually expecting. As far as pregnancy announcements go, this has been pretty unconventional. Traditionally, big new usually go through PRs or celeb’s own social media accounts (see: Beyoncé). However, Chen and Clooney have been longtime friends (her husband Leslie Moonves is not only the chairman of CBS, but was also the one who got Clooney the ER gig). We even hear they occasionally have Scrabble night at the Clooneys’ Lake Como house (#nbd). So it’s safe to say, Clooney was the one who gave Chen the exclusive.
However, Matt Damon then shared the sweetest anecdote with ET Canada hours after the news dropped, which basically threw our disbelief out the window once and for all.
“I was working with him last fall and he pulled me aside on set and I mean, I almost started crying. I was so happy for him,” says Damon. “And I was like, ‘How far along is she?’ And he goes, ‘eight weeks.’

Being a father of four, he obviously freaked out on the new father-to-be, saying “‘Are you out of your mind?! Don’t tell anybody else! Don’t tell anybody else! Don’t you know the 12-week rule?’ Like of course he doesn’t.” He then continues about the advice he gave his friend, “‘Just shut up, man.’ And then four weeks later, I’m like, ‘We’re good right?'” And Clooney confirmed, “‘We’re good.'”
