I think it’s safe to say that Frank Ocean and his dad don’t get along.

Calvin Cooksey has reportedly filed a defamation lawsuit against Ocean for a Tumblr post he made about him, according to TMZ.

The 29-year-old claimed that his father used offensive homophobic slurs in front of him years ago. He wrote: “I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f****t as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty.”

Cooksey denies that he ever made such statements and says the post has damaged his financial film and music career. He’s suing Ocean for $14.5 million in damages for tainting his name.

Ocean might be particularly disturbed about the homophobic slurs he says his father made. The singer opened up about his sexuality in 2012 in a Tumblr post, talking about the first time he fell in love with a man.

“4 summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. Every day almost, and on the day we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I’d see him, and his smile. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless,” Ocean writes.

He hasn’t been in contact with his dad since he was a child, as stated in the same post that “defamed” Cooksey.

“That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.”

This isn’t the first time Cooksey has sued for defamatory issues. In 2014, he sued hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons with a $142-million lawsuit for publishing “lies about him.” The post on Simmons’ website claimed that Cooksey was a horrible father to Ocean.
