The Best Street Style Looks from London Fashion Week S/S20 (so far!)

These are the looks we're loving in London.

Last week, New York kicked off the S/S20 fashion week season in superb style. And now, the fash pack has jumped across the pond to London for the next round of shows.

Day one kicked off with cool-girl brand 16Arlington presenting its newest collection, followed by Temperley London.

Staying true to form, London’s street style aesthetic toes the line between wearable chic and bold, fashion-forward looks. Trench coats, slip skirts and clean lines sit stylishly alongside bright hues and various prints. Suiting remains key for the season ahead, and sneakers aren’t finished with their moment in the sun just yet, either. Corset tops appear to be having a resurgence also, having been spotted on the streets of New York and now in London, too. Whether worn alone, or layered over a tee, it adds a slick edge to any ensemble.

LFW is one of the most interesting weeks on the show calendar, often serving up cooler, more wearable looks than its sister cities. It’s also perhaps the most environmentally conscious. Last year, the British Fashion Council announced an event-wide ban on fur and earlier this week revealed a new initiative called the Institute of Positive Fashion. The aim of the IPF is to “accelerate progress made in all areas of sustainability that will be impactful and lasting, by creating educational programmes and campaigns aimed at both industry and the public [in order to] catalyse and expedite change,” according to a statement.

Such news will no doubt be music to the ears of NYC-based designer Gabriela Hearst who last week hosted the first carbon neutral show in fashion week history in the hope that it would inspire other designers to do the same.
