Events / Vancouver International Film Festival’s “Advanced Style” Screening & After-Party

To toast the Vancouver International Film Festival’s Style In Film series, Holt Renfrew threw a fashionable mingler following the screening of the blog-turned-documentary Advanced Style.

Sporting Doc Martens and a shaved head—reminding us a little of ‘90s Lori Petty—the film’s director Lina Plioplyte continued the Q&A she’d just had on stage at the Playhouse with party guests. Hive Mind Millinery’s Dominique Hanke, drew glances for her chic ensemble topped with, naturally, an eye-catching chapeau. VIFF executive director Jacqueline Dupuis popped in purple, while Eco Fashion Week founder and president Myriam Laroche donned a dance-inspired ensemble, in what felt like an unintentional homage to one of the doc’s cast members, Apollo Dance Theatre icon and F/W ’12 Lanvin campaign model Jacquie Tajah Murdock. Fittingly the festivities took place amongst the first-floor jewellery, handbags and eyewear where everyone was tempted to up their own accessories game à la the six stars of the film.
