A comprehensive ranking of all the times the Kardashians made headlines in 2015
Ah, the Kardashians: the family that America loves, hates, and most importantly, can’t stop watching. Whether or not you’re a fan, you have to admit that 2015 has been a huge year for them. Thanks to their reality TV show, they’ve been in the spotlight for years now, but certain events in the past year ensured that we had at least one juicy Kardashian headline to discuss every month. We compiled some of their biggest headlines of the year, from the worst (meaning cringe-worthy or just plain boring) to best (meaning heart-warming, or in case, kinda hilarious). Not necessarily in that order though. Let’s take a trip down memory lane into what is sure to be known as the year of the Kardashians:

Let’s start off with one member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan who drew a lot of the spotlight this year: 18 year old Kylie Jenner. The reality TV star courted controversy several times in 2015, whether it was rumours about her lips or her relationship with 26 year old rapper Tyga. Most recently, however, Kylie received a lot of backlash for her Interview cover which depicts her sitting in a wheelchair. One woman with cerebral palsy, Erin Tatum, posted a picture of herself in her wheelchair explaining why Kylie’s cover shouldn’t be considered “trendy.”

Kylie’s lips also received more than their fair share of attention in 2015. First, in May, the star finally admitted to having lip injections, after the hashtag #KylieJennerChallenge went viral. Teens were attempting to emulate Kylie’s lips by using suction from a shot glass to make their lips swell up. Turns out you can only get Kylie’s lips from a plastic surgeon.

Then in early December, Kylie released her much-anticipated Lip Kit. It had been hyped up months ahead of time, but the launch was only announced 24 hours beforehand on Instagram. Still, the kits managed to sell out almost immediately. This wasn’t the only thing that left fans upset, however. Comparisons of Kylie’s lipstick colors to similar shades from the brand ColourPop had quite a few people wondering if perhaps Kylie’s lip kit wasn’t all that original. Either way, there’s a clear solution to both of these problems: just go ahead and buy yourself some $6 ColourPop lipsticks in the shades similar to Kylie’s Lip Kit if it’s so important to you.

Moving on from Kylie for a hot second, let’s talk about some of the biggest headlines regarding the rest of the family. 2015 was a tough year for Kourtney and Khloe in terms of relationships. Kourtney split up from her long-time partner and father of her three children Scott Disick in July, saying later on Keeping Up With the Kardashians that she could never rely on him. We’ll see if they manage to reconcile in 2016 but chances seem slim.
Khloe Kardashian Makes Shocking Announcement About Lamar Odom (The Daily Caller)
Meanwhile, Khloe has had an even more complicated year with Lamar Odom. After the couple had filed for divorce, Odom was found unconscious in a Las Vegas brothel and is still working through a long recovery. Khloe put the divorce on hold to be able to deal with medical decisions for Odom, but has since said that she does still plan to go through with it (which, let’s be real, is not that shocking).

Of course, it wasn’t all breakups and tragedy for the Kardashian clan this year. In November, they celebrated Kris Jenner’s 60th birthday with a grand Great Gatsby-themed bash. We’re not sure which was the best part of the party, Kourtney rocking a tux or Kylie’s glam 1920s hair and makeup complete with a gorgeous beaded gown. (Picture.)

They also accomplished a lot. Besides Kylie’s Lip Kit (which was an inarguable success despite any controversy), there was also the Kendall + Kylie line for Topshop in June and again in November. And, of course, 2015 was the year of the Kardashian app invasion. As of this week, every Kardashian sister has her own app (Kourtney’s just debuted on Tuesday). Of course, there was controversy. Fans complained about the fact that, although the apps are free to download, they require a $2.99/month subscription. And of course, there was Khloe’s attempt to cover up the fact that she doesn’t care enough about her sisters’ apps to even download them.

They wouldn’t be the Kardashian family that we know and love/hate without some controversy, however. In 2015, Caitlyn Jenner managed to drum up a lot of attention regarding her coming out as a trans woman. She came out in April in a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer and later presented her new gender identity on an instantly iconic cover of Time. Unfortunately it hasn’t been a smooth road for Caitlyn Jenner so far, with some applauding her bravery and others criticizing her ability to be a good representative of other trans women. The latter group was particularly vocal after she made a remark that “the hardest part of being a woman is figuring out what to wear” while accepting her Woman of the Year award from Glamour Magazine. The husband of 9/11 hero Moira Smith even sent back his wife’s posthumous award in protest of the remark.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s Newborn Son Saint Is Breaking the Law in New Zealand (Us Magazine)
Oh, also Kim and Kanye finally had baby #2 and he’s already breaking the law (spoiler alert: the name Saint is illegal in New Zealand). Kim said, despite having a rough pregnancy, that she’s already thinking about baby #3. It’s been a little more than a year since Kim broke the Internet with her butt on the cover of Paper, but it seems longer. Kim seems more focused on her growing family than breaking the Internet these days.

That’s OK though because the other Kardashians are providing us with plenty of material. Saving the best for last, the biggest Kardashian kontroversy this year is undoubtedly Khloe Kardashian’s PIE LIE. Apparently the Thanksgiving pies that Khloe posted pictures of on Instagram (on the oven rack, no less!) along with claims that she baked them herself, were actually purchased from Sweet Lady Jane Bakery. Oops. Is this the greatest Kardashian scandal of our time? It just might be, but we’ll have to wait to see what 2016 brings.
