Lady Gaga’s Met Gala Beauty Secret Was an Unreleased Marc Jacobs Moisturizer

Believe it or not, there was one thing about Lady Gaga's look last night that exemplified restraint.

Believe it or not, there was one thing about Lady Gaga’s look last night at the Met Gala that epitomized restraint. When it came down to makeup application, underneath those whisker-like metallic lashes and stick-on jewels, Gaga’s longtime makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, held back from using foundation to let her secret weapon work its magic: an as-yet unreleased moisturizer by Marc Jacobs Beauty.

The first venture into skincare for the brand, Youthquake Hydra-Full Retexturizing Gel Crème is an exfoliator-moisturizer hybrid, using pineapple enzymes to resurface while hydrating the skin with hyaluronic acid (this dermatologist would approve). “Prepping the skin is always the most important step in any makeup no matter how clean or how intense,” Tanno wrote on Instagram. “Because the eye makeup was so intense, I needed to make sure the skin was balanced and beautiful.”

Instead of following that initial skin-prepping step up with an all-over foundation, Tanno stuck to Marc Jacobs Accomplice Concealer and Touch-Up Stick, followed by the brand’s Accomplice Blurring Beauty Powder. Gaga wasn’t the only star in the know on this skincare secret last night: Halsey, Lily Aldridge, Lizzo, Ciara, Maggie Rogers and Charlotte Casiraghi all owed their dewy glows to Youthquake.

Youthquake hasn’t hit the market just yet, with a launch scheduled for later this month, but if you’re curious about this magical moisturizer worthy of going foundation-less, it’s available for a limited time on marcjacobsbeauty.com right now, until May 8th.
