Clarisonic is Coming Out With a Foundation Brush
Beauty vloggers have been taking to extreme DIY measures to apply their makeup (condoms, tampons and even hard-boiled eggs…), but we have a feeling all of that will change with the latest launch from Clarisonic.
The beauty device brand, known for its oscillating cleansing tools which caused a stir amongst beauty fans and editors back in the early 2010s, is changing the game with a new brush meant for makeup application. Called the Sonic Foundation Brush, the head fits on existing Clarisonic devices (one of which you could win in our Instagram giveaway!), instantly transforming your cleansing tool into a high-tech makeup applicator.
The brush is equipped with anti-microbial and non-porous bristles for minimal product absorption. It’s easy to clean, and promises to give you a flawless, full foundation coverage look in 60 seconds or less, thanks to its oscillation technology which generates more than 18,000 micro-blends per minute — something a regular brush, sponge or your fingers just cannot do.
Along with foundation, the brush also works well with BB/CC cream, concealer, colour correctors, liquid highlighters and contour products — so long as they are in liquid of stick form (don’t use powders with this!). All you have to do is apply a tiny bit of product onto your skin before using your Clarisonic to blend.
Clarisonic co-founder and president, Dr. Robb Akridge, told Refinery29 the idea for the brush came several years ago when they were looking for a way to analyze wrinkles.
“We included makeup in the testing process and noticed the patented sonic oscillation technology behind Clarisonic is not only great for cleansing, but also for seamlessly blending makeup across the skin,” he explained.
The Clarisonic Sonic Foundation Brush is currently available for pre-order, and will launch mid-May online and in stores in June. It’ll retail for $39. Watch the video below to see the brush in action!
