The Best Beauty From Fall 2018 Couture Week

It feels like couture week used to be so under the radar, with only the industry paying it much attention. But now it gets just as much play on our feeds as any other fashion week and beauty looks inevitably deliver a feast for our eyes. Herewith, our favourite looks that came down the runways of Paris these last few days.

Chanel

The Morrissey-esque quiffs paired with low ponies mastered by Sam McKnight added a rockabilly edge to the glittering clothes. Keeping the glamour quotient high were shimmery green lids with gold flecks of glitter along the waterline by Tom Pecheux. Sidenote: we’re fans of Pecheux but doesn’t anyone else think it’s weird that Karl keeps hiring him to do backstage beauty when A) he works for YSL and B) Lucia Pica is amazing?

Givenchy

Cat-eye liner and shimmering cheekbones aside, we couldn’t get enough of the chain mail headpieces, which were equal parts futuristic and medieval.

Valentino

Kaia Gerber’s insane mane, sculpted by Guido Palau, seemed to get more play than any other look this week. As we suspected, it took a lot more than product to get this volume, with Palau inserting foam padding inside to build that towering bulk.

Fendi

Sixties inspo was in full force, with buoyant bouffants by Sam McKnight and thick, extended wings by Peter Philips. They included a dash of white within the lines that never quite met at the inner corner. Love.

Ralph & Russo

Full disclosure: we chose this look for no other reason than its glorious 80s-ness (is that even a word?). We just finished Season 2 of Glow and the pink and purple combo on the lids, paired with red lips is something we can totally see Betty Gilpin wearing.
