The Best Tinted Sunscreens To Wear Every Day

Let’s be honest: no one really likes wearing sunscreen. Sure, we want to be protected from the sun’s harmful UV rays, but adding an extra step to our morning routines, not to mention reapplying throughout the day (especially over makeup…the worst!) is kind of a pain. And then there’s the whole white sheen, sticky feel, and weird smell sunscreen has been notorious for leaving on our skin.
Now full disclaimer: I’m new to this whole applying sunscreen regularly concept, but one product that has actually helped convert me is a tinted version. And no, I’m not talking about my tinted moisturizers that already have built-in SPF, I’m talking actual sunscreen with just a hint of colour to hydrate, protect and provide a bit of coverage to my skin. I’m on the drier side in terms of skin type, so I still need to use my regular moisturizer, but tinted sunscreens knock out two extra steps from my regular routine, which means I can sleep in an extra 10 minutes. More beauty rest and sun-protected skin? Win-win.

Tinted Sunscreens
Shiseido Sports BB Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ WetForce

Even though wearing makeup to the gym (or while working out) is frowned upon, the majority of us still do it. If you want to remain protected during your outdoor fitness activities (and look good for that post-workout selfie you’ll be putting on the ‘gram), try this Sports BB sunscreen from Shiseido. It’s ultra light and silky, but still manages to provide great coverage and the water-resistant formula will last through even the sweatiest of workout sessions.

La Roche Posay Anthelios MINERAL Tinted Ultra-Fluid Lotion SPF 50

Sensitive skin types should try La Roche Posay’s antioxidant-rich, fragrance-free mineral formula. It, too, is silky and sheer and leaves a soft matte finish.
If you’re concerned about sun protection around your eyes, try this Physical Eye UV Defense sunscreen from Skinceuticals. It blends into skin effortlessly and has a nice, matte finish. Bonus? It doubles as a great eye makeup primer (trust us, we’ve tried it).
Tinted Sunscreens
Garnier Ombrelle Ultra Light Advanced Face SPF60
($23, well.ca)
Garnier’s Ombrelle line is one of the more popular drugstore options when it comes to sunscreen, so if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly pick, try their tinted version which boasts an SPF of 60 (the highest of our roundup). Though the consistency is quite runny, it absorbs nicely into skin and leaves no trace of sheen.

AlumierMD Moisture Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 40
($60, alumiermd.com)
If your oily skin has got you down, try AlumierMD’s Moisture Matte sunscreen. It’ll lightly moisturize your skin while absorbing excess oil and features fancy encapsulated micro colour bead technology that allows you to customize your coverage (rubbing lightly will break only a few beads, resulting in a lighter tint, while rubbing longer will give you deeper coverage).

Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 Protect and Perfect

Drier skin types should try this argan-infused tinted sunscreen from Josie Maran. Though it is thick (and therefore, ultra-hydrating), silicones and polymers make application a breeze.
This tinted mineral moisturizer from Juice Beauty offers sheer coverage, so it’s great for those wanting to let their natural skin *shine* through.
