#multimasking is the most simplistically brilliant thing to happen to your face regiment as of late. The idea behind multimasking is simple: the skin on your face is a complicated minefield of different issues and each area requires different care. Some patches are more dry, some have excess oil, others are more prone to breakouts and no single mask can properly fix every issue. In comes #multimasking. This technique recognizes the difference between your cheeks, T-zone and under-eyes, and pampers them accordingly (plus results 100% more selfie fun).

Multimasking will vary from person to person because everyone’s skin is different (which is the point of this whole thing). However, for the sake of simplicity, your face can be broken down into three major areas: the T-zone (your chin, nose and forehead) generally produces the most oil and therefore requires a mask with charcoal or salicylic acid to remove all the dirt in your pores and help prevent zits. Cheeks tend to dry out the most so a hydrating mask is best for this area. The skin under your eyes is the most sensitive and depending on your age and genetic luck, a retinol cream or sheet mask could be beneficial here. (Try this one from Shiseido that focuses on minimizing wrinkles.) Since your skin changes from season to season and sometimes even day to day, depending on your exposure to the elements, pay attention to what your skin might need and adjust accordingly.

If the thought of going out and buying 4 different face masks and draining your bank account is, well, draining, there are a few options. Clinique has a Mask Mini Set that addresses four different issues that’s perfect for one-time use. Peter Thomas Roth offers a budget-friendly set of three different masks. If you’re willing to shell out a few more bucks, try GlamGlow’s Facial Set,with three varying masks and three mini under-eye treatments.  Don’t feel restricted to only use your typical mask though, mix it up with nose strips, sheet masks and whatever else you want to lather onto your skin. This technique is about treating all your skin’s needs your way.
